The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) is the state agency that is responsible for conducting civil services examinations in Uttar Pradesh. The UPPSC was established on April 1, 1937, with its headquarters in Allahabad (now Prayagraj).


Initially, the UPPSC was known as the Public Service Commission, United Provinces. It was formed under the Government of India Act, 1935, and was responsible for conducting exams for appointments to the services of the Province of United Provinces. The first Chairman of the UPPSC was Sir Ross Barker, and the first examination conducted by the UPPSC was held in 1939.


After the independence of India, the Public Service Commissions of various states, including Uttar Pradesh, were reconstituted as per the provisions of the Constitution of India. The UPPSC was reconstituted in 1950, and its functions were defined under Article 320 of the Constitution of India.


Over the years, the UPPSC has played a significant role in selecting candidates for various administrative positions in the state government. The UPPSC conducts various examinations, including the Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services Examination, the Assistant Conservator of Forest/Range Forest Officer Examination, and the Provincial Civil Services Examination.


Today, the UPPSC is a well-established and respected institution in the state of Uttar Pradesh and is known for its fair and transparent selection process.
